The Distinguish of Real Silk

The most commonly used methods are handle and eyeballing, inflammation, and chemical coloring.

Handle and eyeballing method:

Observe the length and trimness of fiber: silk is thin and long; cotton fiber is shorter; fleece is longer than cotton fiber and it is curled; the long chemical fiber is quite long, and the short chemical fiber is short but trim.

Observe the handle and intensity of fiber: the handle of real silk is moderate; viscose, nylon yarn, and terylene are similar with silk; cotton and flax are stiff, but fleece is very soft.

Observe the fiber by snapping it: silk, flax, cotton, and composed silk are strong in tenacity; fleece, viscose and cellulose acetate fiber are tender.

Observe by its appearance: silk fiber has a special gloss, it is bright but not glare; chemical fiber does not have this feature.

The Maintenance of Real silk

The dyestuff of real silk is mainly CI acid dyestuff, neutral dyestuff and parts of direct dyestuff. The firmness of silk coloration is relatively poor, so it is not suitable to wash under high temperature. In addition, silk is not alkali resistant. Wash it with neutral soap or other silk product detergent. You can also use dry cleaning.

It is not suitable to wash silk with other white or light color garments. It is also not suitable to scrub hardly. It is inadvisable to wash silk in the washing machine.

The dyed silk garments should be placed in cool and dry places where the direct rays of the sun will not beat.

It is not suggested to wring the silk garments after wash. If use electric iron, be careful that the temperature should not be too high.
